One man sinned and it was accounted unto all men. That is to say, sin is an imputation. To impute means to ascribe, to assign or to credit something to somebody. Thus, when Adam sinned as the arch head of the human race, his sin and its consequences were credited or assigned to every other human being. By means of that, every other human being that was born by the fertilisation of the sperm a man and the ovum of a woman had sin imputed to him. By means of this imputation of sin, you did not have to sin in order to become a sinner. By means of biological birth, you were a sinner by default and by nature.
That is why for the man who has not yet received the life of Christ into his spirit, sinning is his second nature no matter how morally upright he is. We were sinners not because we were sinning. Rather, we were sinning because we were sinners. That was who we were, and that was our nature.
In the same vein, when Jesus came as thesecond man and the last Adam and fully submitted to God, he also opened the way for any man who will also believe in Him to receive of His free gift of grace to enter into another economy of life where the gift of righteousness is also imparted or imputed on any man that believes. If sin was inherited by means of biological birth then righteousness is also inherited by means of divine birth. If you are in Christ Jesus, you are righteous not because of the righteous thing you are doing, but because righteousness has been imputed unto you which has now become your nature. For that reason, you can live righteously. Let this be your mindset and let this control your lifestyle.
If you are born again, you carry the righteous seed of God in your spirit. Righteousness is credited unto you not because of what you did per se but because of what Jesus did. That is why as a believer, you must not allow your life to be a product of all the wrong choices you have made. Instead, your life should be a sum total of all the right choices that Jesus made on your behalf. This is God’s righteousness, embrace it by faith.
Prayer: Hallelujah, I have the life of Christ in me. I am after the righteous seed of Christ. I have been created in Christ Jesus to be like God in true righteousness and holiness in Jesus name. Amen!
