Rev. Ansere Francis

1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world”.

Apart from the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh, one other factor by which Satan delays and frustrates the destinies of people is through the Pride of Life. This has to do with valuing and seeking the honour of men more than the honour of God.

When a man is always moved by the motivation to want to fit in but not to stand out for God, such a person has been overtaken by the pride of life.

Your destiny will always mostly cause you to make decisions that are not in line with popular opinion. But God would want you to take a stand for Him. As a child of God and a person of destiny, you must stand by your convictions and what God has instructed you do not cower because of the fear of men. Many young people have sacrificed their glorious destinies on the altar of peer pressure and the opinions of their friends. Others also, because of the pressure of their families have also sacrificed their destinies.

But should you decide to fully obey God, there will always be people that you may have to disappoint and at times it just happens that some of these people are your biological parents or your close friends. Walking with God will cause you to fall out of the good books of some of these people.

If you can master the pride of life by overcoming the opinions of men you will go a long way to make an impact in your lifetime. Let men call you bad and evil for some time and keep on staying in the centre of God’s will, it is enough! Let men talk ill about you and be righteous before God. This is because most of the things that human beings applaud, God, frowns at. God does not judge as men do.

Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, I ride myself of the pride of life and applauds of men. By your Holy fire, purge my heart and motivation. May I seek that which will only pleasure Your heart in Jesus name. Amen!

Nevertheless, always be concerned by the judgement of God than the opinions and expectations of men. Stay focused and be a history maker for Jesus.
